There are days that I cringe when “dine-out” and “toddler” are spoken in the same sentence. Dining out with a toddler is no easy task. It is, however, a great opportunity to build skills with your toddler, and believe it or not, it can be fun and stress free. Here are a few simple tips to enjoy the dining out experience with your toddler!

CHILD FRIENDLY RESTAURANTS

It will not always be your choice where you will be having dinner. If it is your choice, try to find a child friendly restaurant (and I don’t just mean the places that have slides). There are a few things that make restaurants a little more family friendly.

I always have the best intentions. I always want to be that Mom that brings cute gifts on Holidays for my kid’s teachers, make cute treats for my husbands employees etc…. BUT I always fall short because I simply DO NOT HAVE TIME!!! Ok…And we can admit that I am not the best baker/cook and I’m truly very non-crafty..

Can I just tell you how excited I am for my Valentines Day treat this year? It takes all of 5 minutes to prepare (minus the oven time) and is UBER delicious and fairly calorie free! My two year old and I had the absolute best time making this popcorn! It is so easy and quick to prep that it kept his attention the WHOLE time and the air popping alone was enough to entertain us for hours. I think we would have popped the entire container if we had a use for 200 quarts of popcorn!

As an Early Childhood Special Educator, I get asked quite frequently about color blindness. Often parents are concerned about color blindness because of a child being slightly delayed in learning colors. Color blindness is not as common at it may seem. However, studies show that approximately 1 child in each classroom has color blindness.

So, lets talk a little more about color blindness. What is a person actually seeing when they are color blind? Black and White???? No, it is VERY rare for someone to have “Monochromasy Color blindness” or complete lack of any color sensation. Most of the time, it is a weakened sensation of a certain color a certain color group. Actually, there are few different types of color blindness. To find out more about the types of color blindness and the prevalence check out this Website for complete details.

Over the past few weeks, my family has gone through a few very unpredictable events. It has made life a bit harder and quite a bit more crazy! (Hence, the hiatus from the blog world for a few weeks- thanks for hangin’ in there with me!)

It can seem near impossible to be prepared for a family emergency or small crisis. Being admitted to the hospital a few weeks ago, was quite the ordeal for my little family. But, being prepared with these few tips made life a whole lot easier!  By being prepared you can take a lot of stress off yourself and off your children. Having stressed children can cause new problem behaviors, returning problem behaviors, tantrums, depression, anxiety etc. Prevent the majority of these feelings and issues with these simple tips.  These tips are also great to use while getting ready for a new baby and planning for the big day.
