Back to school is in full swing! BLEH! How did the summer go by so fast!? With going back to school, or for some of our young ones who are just starting school, it can be an extremely scary time! Leaving Mom and/or Dad is rough! It can sometimes cause some pretty serious separation anxiety.

One of the hardest parts of my day, as an educator, is to see children upset when their parents have to leave. It breaks my heart each and every time! Everyday I would remind the parents to just “rip off the band-aid” and leave quickly.

When my first son was nursing, he was diagnosed with Milk, Soy, Protein Intolerance. So basically I had to drop everything dairy if I wanted to continue nursing. So, I did! So, needless to say, I was VERY excited when I was asked to review the Ebook 101 Vegan Chocolate Recipes! These are super easy recipes that give great substitutions! First/Then charts are one of my favorite behavior aids! They are easy to use and easy for kids to understand! It can be SO hard for our tiny humans to grasp the concept of First/Then. “FIRST we are eating dinner, THEN you can play outside”.  When really, all they heard was, “play outside”. By using a “First/Then” chart you can help them understand by giving them a visual.

First/Then charts are also amazing to use as simple picture schedules. For many children, especially those with disabilities, having a visual picture schedule is CRUCIAL! By using a First/Then schedule your kids will be able to anticipate what is going to happen next. This in itself can eliminate many problem behaviors.
