30minutemeals

Ok, it’s confession time….I am not the best cook in the world. I LOVE to cook! But, I’m just not so great at it. The thing I am the worst at is coming up with a meal when I am short on time!  A busy night can often times result in a box of Velveeta or a sad little microwave meal…..(Please don’t judge!) Well thankfully, I have the beautiful, talented and amazing Lauren Allen from Tastes Better From Scratch as my fabulous sister-in-law to help teach me the culinary ropes. She is here today sharing her favorite [30 minute] meals from her blog to help us Busy Mamas out! She has 2 kids under 3 at home so she knows all about busy! She is by far the best cook, chef, baker etc…that I know! So get excited!

Healthy Homemade

Do you have one of those kids that will eat just about ANYTHING as long as it is dipped in ranch, ketchup or something equally as disgusting? Ok Fine, I love condiments just as much as the next guy…but did you know that Ranch has 140 Calories per Serving??? And a serving is only 2 Tbs! Not to mention it has 14 grams of fat and 250 mg of sodium (Hidden Valley Ranch)! So, here is a GREAT solution! This Trick Your Picky Eater-Healthy Homemade Ranch Dip only has 53 Calories per serving, 2.4 grams of fat and 170 mg of sodium! Now, this isn’t a good alternative for Dressing on a Salad…But for dipping veggies, nuggets, fries, pizza…whatever your little person likes to dip…it is PERFECT!!! And it is a much healthier alternative to ranch!

Share on FacebookPin on PinterestTweet about this on TwitterShare on Google+Email this to someoneShare on StumbleUponPrint this page

silkystretchyThis play dough recipe is SO much fun! It is stretchy and SUPER silky smooth! I even had a great time playing with this!! This is such a fun change up to the usual play dough recipes. Plus- it smells GREAT and makes your hands nice and smooth!! With only 3 ingredients (4 if you choose to use glitter) it is easy enough for any age child in your family to participate!

What you need:

silky ingredients

1 cup Conditioner (The cheaper the better!)
2 cups Cornstarch
Food Coloring (My conditioner was pink- so I used 3-4 drops of pink food coloring to make it a little more vibrant.)
Glitter (Optional)

Shaving Cream PUFF PAINT

Share on FacebookPin on PinterestTweet about this on TwitterShare on Google+Email this to someoneShare on StumbleUponPrint this page

puff paintThis has got to be one of my all time favorite recipes to paint with. It is one of the easiest things in the world to make (only 3 ingredients), it is easy to clean up, you can use it as sensory exploration AND it dries beautifully! It is so fun to see the 3-D artwork that comes from this puff paint! It will take about 4 seconds to make and your kids will enjoy it for hours!

What you need:

three ingredient

Shaving Cream (Buy the cheap stuff! You don’t want the shaving cream that is gel first. Get the Foam stuff. If you can, avoid the mentholated kind. It will still work, but your house..and your kid will likely smell like an old man’s barber shop)
